Motive Giving Program

Home for a Home
At Motive, we’ve established a powerful program that gives a home to a family in need for every home we buy or sell for you, our clients. Giving back is part of who we are and is just as important as providing you with exceptional service and an amazing experience.

Our Story
It all started with my passion for real estate, helping others, and a desire to do something in real estate that would have a profound effect on people…something that involved giving back in a way that really mattered…a way that changed lives.

I thought about what a lot companies already do to give back, like donating a small percentage of profits or a few dollars to charities. That’s all great, and I love that they do that, but I wanted to make more of an impact. So after a lot of thinking and soul-searching during long runs, mountain bike rides and just sitting still (which I don’t do often), I had a crazy idea that it would be amazing to give a home away for every home I helped a client buy or sell.

I slept on it a few nights and, each day I woke, it seemed just as crazy as it was when I went to sleep the night before. I was completely fixated by the idea. That’s when I knew it’s what I needed to do. I would create a real estate brokerage driven by the purpose of giving a home for a home.

To make this a reality in the quickest way possible, I determined it would be best to join forces with a charity or NGO (non-governmental organization) that already has “boots on the ground” in a developing country – where providing housing could truly change lives.

So after months of searching organizations, talking with people all over the world at crazy hours of the night due to time zone differences, vetting each organization’s effectiveness and expense models, and turning over every rock possible…

I found Giving Partners that help Motive accomplish the goal of providing housing for the homeless. As our Partner list grows, we will include their information here so you can learn more.

The Butterfly Tree:
The Butterfly Tree does amazing work in Zambia where they change lives by providing housing, schools, clinics and clean drinking water.

Together, we’ve developed a unique program that translates into the one-for-one effect on housing I had been dreaming of.

And we’re doing it! We currently have two homes under construction. We will update with photos and information as it becomes available.

The recipients of these homes are usually large families with 15 or more people who come from sleeping in a shack, maybe under a piece of cardboard or an old scrap of tarp, or just the ground out in the open…sharing their “bed” with malaria-carrying mosquitoes, crocodiles and poisonous snakes. Needless to say, it’s quite easy to understand how the homes we give drastically change their lives for the better.

And we’re continually developing relationships with organizations, both here in Texas and abroad, that will extend the reach of our giving program and put more people in homes.

Okay, I knew what the purpose was going to be for the brokerage and how I was going to accomplish it, and now I needed a name for it. It had to build off the reason for being in business – the purpose behind everything we do.

A lot of names were thrown up on a white board and scratched out in notebooks over the course of a few weeks. “Motive” hit the list one day, and I pulled out the dictionary (on my iPhone, of course), and read the definition: “the goal or objective of a person’s actions; something that causes a person to act, prompting to action”. It was perfect. Motive embodied exactly what I wanted to create…a real estate brokerage with the objective of giving clients’ amazing experiences while fighting homelessness.

So now that you know the story behind Motive Real Estate Group and how our giving program works, we’d love the opportunity to help you sell or buy your home (or both!)…and when we do, you’ll be the reason we’re able to give one to a family in need.

Amazing client experiences and fighting homelessness is our Motive… what’s yours?
